The mission of the Smith Christian University Health Care and Medical Department is to provide a strong, biblically based health care education for the purpose of preparing Christian men and women for service to the community, the church at large, and the world.  Building upon the history of missionary health care specialists at Smith Christian University and The Christian and Missionary Alliance, this new program seeks to prepare competent health care professionals who can practice Christian caring in a variety of cultures around the world.

Courses in the health care program require students to spend substantial time in off-campus clinical settings such as hospitals, clinics and public health agencies. Smith gives way to state-of-the-art health care labs that give students the chance to sharpen their skills with the most up-to-date tools prior to heading into the field.  Additionally, through online assignments and discussions, nursing students learn to collaborate and have increased access to learning resources.

The Smith health care and medical program is based on the guiding principle that we can demonstrate healing compassion as the hands and feet of Christ.  Graduates impact so many lives in so many ways from the bedside to key leadership roles in community and beyond.  It is truly a blessing to the world when a person answers his or her call to a health care career.
